A NEW GENERATION OF LEADERSHIP FOR DYER COUNTY

RECEIVE CAMPAIGN UPDATES FROM ERIC MAUPIN

MEET ERIC

Fourth-Generation

Dyer County Farmer

Eric Maupin owns and manages Maupin Farms in Newbern, Tennessee. A fourth-generation farmer, he grows soybeans, corn, wheat, and cattle, continuing a family legacy built on hard work and stewardship of the land. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, Eric earned his degree in Agricultural Business with a minor in Communications in 1997. That same year, he was appointed by Commissioner Dan Wheeler as Director of International Agricultural Marketing for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. In this role, he worked alongside the Division of Marketing and the Department of Economic and Community Development to expand global markets for Tennessee agricultural products. In 2001, Eric made the decision to return home to farm alongside his parents, taking advantage of new opportunities to grow the operation and eventually transitioning into sole owner and manager.

Record of Leadership and Growth

Throughout his career, Eric has earned recognition for both his leadership and results. In 2009, he was named Tennessee Young Farmer of the Year by the Tennessee Farm Bureau, honoring his commitment to excellence in agriculture and community leadership. Under his management, Maupin Farms has grown to more than 3,000 acres in production annually. Eric has also served on the American Soybean Association Board of Directors and Executive Committee, providing leadership during two federal Farm Bills and addressing key national policy issues impacting production agriculture. At the state level, he was appointed by Governor Bill Haslam to serve on the steering committee for the Governor’s Rural Challenge — a ten-year strategic plan focused on strengthening rural Tennessee’s capacity to produce and grow. He also served on the Tennessee Dicamba Task Force, helping navigate complex agricultural policy matters.

Family & Faith

Eric is married to his wife, JoAnn, and together they are raising three children: Cara, Chloe, and Camille. The Maupin family attends Lenox Baptist Church and remains deeply rooted in the values and traditions of Dyer County.

WHY I'M RUNNING

In my life, I have had the privilege of serving under strong leaders and stepping into leadership myself. I understand the responsibility and the power that leadership carries. After much prayer, reflection, and encouragement from people across our community, I believe I am prepared to provide the leadership Dyer County needs at this moment.

I see tremendous potential in this county — for job growth, business development, and educational opportunity. My wife and I are raising a family here, just like many of our friends. We all ask the same question: What kind of future will our children have in Dyer County?

I believe the answer depends on leadership.

The strength of any community is its people. I believe in inspiring people — in helping them see what’s possible and giving them the confidence to pursue it. I want Dyer County to believe in itself again. When people are proud of where they live and trust the leadership guiding them, economic growth and opportunity follow.

If elected, I will fulfill the statutory responsibilities of County Mayor with discipline, transparency, and accountability. But I also intend to be a champion for Dyer County — for our schools, our businesses, our recreational opportunities, and our families. For more than 25 years, I’ve been involved in the Dyer County Fair — a week where our community comes together with pride and purpose. That spirit doesn’t have to last just one week. It can define who we are year-round. I believe God has blessed me with the ability to communicate, to discern wisely, and to act when something needs fixing. Scripture teaches that to whom much is given, much is required. I believe this is my time to step forward.

Dyer County needs leadership, and I am ready to serve.
